Cellar Door

i slammed shut the door of my heart
so hard when you left
that all the windows shattered

now you see right through
to all that really mattered

winds wrack a crouching form
shivered to the bone
part of him's just a lost child

who wants to feel safe
and not so alone

another winter without you
ended so I welcome light
this spring I'm rebuilding

life will fill complete
even with an empty spot remaining

tears are left here when falling
so there's always a spot for you
should you ever knock at my door
