By moonlight you toiled
before the blossoms you bring
from the dark earth you come forth
lips barely parting and it is magic you sing.
There were gnomes in the garden
while someone tossed sand in our plans
you asked La Luna to show the shining path
and for a moment she held the stars in her hand.
You told me the seed must rise
all alone in darkness of soil
all along reaching for something
our light is sovereign and royal.
How many years must we spend alone and depressed
and how many months did we have to spend in utero?
First comes the darkness then comes the light
for the most perfect world rises from deep within our marrow.
Good-bye Monsters
I'm closing the closet door on you now
never believed you were real anyways
safety behind covers not here somehow
closing my eyes behind pillows I prayed
of course I want everyone to like me!
it hurts deep when someone chooses not to
still not everyone is my enemy
as much as the hateful things I can do
you died and I hope to never miss out
on any paranormal clue of you
just a reminder to make me say 'wow'
a little something to help me get through
this season without you here by my side
but you really are so I will not hide
never believed you were real anyways
safety behind covers not here somehow
closing my eyes behind pillows I prayed
of course I want everyone to like me!
it hurts deep when someone chooses not to
still not everyone is my enemy
as much as the hateful things I can do

Love is not eternal
Aphrodite has abandoned me
leaving me destitute
amidst my throes
Painful mornings I wake to
your fingers sculpting
my insides like stone
There is nothing at all left
except a classical
Grecian statue
That has frozen and fallen
crumbled and cold
in these ruins
Where you once flowered
gathering hearts
mine you desired
Romance the sweet sacrifice
that has sunken my ship
in Greek fire
Arrows sung a song long
of this sweet
love's defeat
When my mind still wishes
you were everyone
on the street
Not that I expected gods
to petition
my cause
To a dying mythology
where the goddess wins
and I have lost
leaving me destitute
amidst my throes
Painful mornings I wake to
your fingers sculpting
my insides like stone
There is nothing at all left
except a classical
Grecian statue
That has frozen and fallen
crumbled and cold
in these ruins
Where you once flowered

You have crafted your name onto my heart
in letters of gold and calligraphy.
Your words and voice making for perfect art;
that has possessed my soul entirely.
I surrender to your aoidic charms.
From old recordings you grab and take hold.
When you are near I fear for my heart's harm;
my compass starts spinning out of control.
The record turning like an antique ghost
and I am haunted dancing all alone
in an empty ball, a toast to the host;
lost with you in the trees behind my home.
Searching for magic, you sing the answer;
spinning, spinning like an elfin dancer.
in letters of gold and calligraphy.

I dreamt of us as children
Behind the glass window we look outside
Rain falls rhapsodical across the land
Mother had ordered us to stay inside
You resorted using some sleight of hand
The skeleton key turning perfectly
Opening door revealing the wet world
Finger on your lips you left silently
Following you with my insides a-swirl
There was a war going on in the street
Stomping in puddles in wild attack
I do not remember wetting my feet
Sinful, lushy, soaking, skipping, and splash
So innocently we somehow held hands
And ever since then we've always been friends
Rain falls rhapsodical across the land
Mother had ordered us to stay inside
You resorted using some sleight of hand
The skeleton key turning perfectly
Opening door revealing the wet world
Finger on your lips you left silently
Following you with my insides a-swirl
There was a war going on in the street

And ever since then we've always been friends
Rays of sunlight through stained glass
My love like glass
easy to see
touch me
and your fingerprints
will be left on me.
Smudged
with all that
is life
touch me
and I'll shatter easily.
All you've said
to me
of a love that is
I want to
shatter easily.
Our lives like sand
it has beaten me
quite easily
but after a while
we'll begin to sparkle.
Stained glass
one of life's
many mysteries
the way you shine
all these colors down on me.
easy to see

i love you with lots of exclamation points at the end!!!
when silence reigns all around
there comes a witching winter wind
i begin to sing my love for you
where it'll be carried by
thousand miles of night
to find you where you sleep
in these dreams
you'll see i'll come to you
dancing in some distant glade
moonlight hidden among the trees
where human hands come to meet
making faerie wings and heartbeats
and we ignore what is beneath
the fallen, dying leaf
the worm that crawls into the apple
of your eye; i die
thousand times in the night
to find you on some dark street
a precrash romance
only holding hands at first
i pledge my eternal
undying love to you princess
my queen, my everything
sharing both blessing-curse
looking for a place to hide
from the hunters who hunt our kind
looking for a place of night
a haven for our hearts and minds
their silhouettes seen in the trees
our sacred glade runs red with life
there comes a witching winter wind
i begin to sing my love for you
where it'll be carried by
thousand miles of night

Public House: Second Submission
Page two-sixty-four
It was last year when I first saw her in the laundry room
There with her cat lost in a book and gone all too soon
Hoped for weeks to see her but never found my chance run in
Finally when the seasons changed I did get to see her again
She had the same book so I stood before her puzzled and asked
If it was actually that good or if it was such a hard task
She laughed and looked somewhere far while twirling her hair
Eyes so far away I wondered if she was really even there
Looking much closer I thought that I saw a tiny sparkle
She then smiled so wide with a happiness she'd never let go
She said it was her favorite and asked if I had read it before
I shrugged no so she read me all of page two-sixty-four
It was then and there I knew I had fallen deeply in love
Little did I know she always lived in the apartment above

Deer head bounce above the thicket
where the sun and the wind
are dancing on water
shimmering flowing as
birds fill the creekside
with their songs of knowing
trees guard the banks
where we made our castle
all along the stone edges
where we have built
our final defenses
waters run clear
so you can see the bed
why should i be afraid to cross it
and far in the distant overhead
two eagles turn to face me directly
i was to them
as the wind in countless trees
one of many insects around me
and for a moment i was king
of the texas hill country
now the time has come to leave
we walk into the butterflies
by a flower circle
where the wind and the trees
falling leaves.

Laugh Lines
I was a baby that did not understand
this tree above me that was love.
As a child I ran past it,
and it...made me pause.
Reaching out
placing my hands upon you,
with eyes closed and head bowed,
then suddenly thrust back to look
at the sky.
I want to gaze at your every petal,
learn the secrets of all your lines,
my fingers now run down your face
as tears begin to run down mine.
If this is love why not come sooner?
Hidden all these years in glossy lies.
We all want your body and lovely face.
I want to see what is behind your eyes.
this tree above me that was love.
As a child I ran past it,
and it...made me pause.
Reaching out
placing my hands upon you,
with eyes closed and head bowed,
then suddenly thrust back to look
at the sky.

A domestic scene during the holidays
hit you, hit me
i can tell how mad you are
by how hard your fist hits
how many drinks you drank
for you to hit less and less
before you passed out
the mathematics of abuse
i have figured out
hit yourself
say you'll die without me
so i stayed with your demons
your dogs and your damned
now you've grown old
and lost your fire
let the right one in
it is you i desire
now you are broken
and i am healing
now you are reaching
when i am living
but i always needed you
and you me
this is not how romance
should be
i saw as they lowered
the casket
as my hand fired
a silver revolver
but none will know
the hell we went through
and i pray to god
that heaven accepts me
and you
i can tell how mad you are
by how hard your fist hits
how many drinks you drank
for you to hit less and less
before you passed out
the mathematics of abuse
